Thumbay University Hospital, a network of academic hospitals in the UAE, is set to launch a fully equipped cancer centre at Thumbay Medicity in Al Jurf, Ajman.
A hub for medical education, healthcare, and research, Thumbay Medicity includes Gulf Medical University, Thumbay Labs, and several specialised hospitals that are part of the Gulf Medical University Academic Health System.
The new Thumbay Advanced Cancer Center is expected to be operational by the end of this month.
It has been developed to address the increasing demand for cancer screenings and treatment in the northern Emirates region.
With a focus on multidisciplinary treatment, the centre will provide specialised and affordable cancer care, accommodating all types of insurance, including those in lower segments.
It will adopt a multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment, offering comprehensive care for various cancers, including lung, breast, stomach, brain, liver, colorectal, and prostate cancer.

The facility’s establishment will also initiate training programmes for healthcare professionals in cancer treatment.
Thumbay Hospital also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Advanced Care Oncology Center to leverage their expertise in medical and surgical oncology.
It was signed between Thumbay Healthcare vice president Akbar Moideen Thumbay and Advanced Care Oncology Center executive director Bashir Reslan.
Akbar Moideen Thumbay said: “With the launch of Thumbay Advanced Cancer Center, the hospital is enhancing its capability to provide specialised care to UAE residents, complementing existing specialities.”
This collaboration will allow patients access to PET CT scans and radiotherapies. The centre will also feature specialised breast clinics and offer breast oncology surgery services.
The new facility is backed by the Thumbay Research Institute for Precision Medicine (TRIPM) and will foster innovative cancer research and diagnostics.
Reslan added: “Through this partnership, we are dedicated to providing patients with access to treatments and comprehensive support, ultimately striving to improve outcomes and enhance quality of life for those battling cancer.”
