Musculoskeletal healthcare company TriasMD is set to introduce DISC Surgery Centers’ spine and orthopaedics programme to the San Fernando Valley, California, US, with its new facility.

TriasMD is the parent company of the DISC Surgery Centers.

The new centre at Tarzana is expected to open in the third quarter of 2025.

TriasMD CEO James Becker said: “We are excited to bring the pinnacle of musculoskeletal care to the heart of the San Fernando Valley with our newest surgery centre and clinic.

“Tarzana marks our second location to open in 2025, building upon the strength and momentum of DISC’s ASC model to perform complex spine surgery and total joint [replacements].”

The custom-built ambulatory surgery centre (ASC) will form part of a two-storey medical building, covering 19,936ft².

The ground floor will house the ASC while the second floor will feature a full-service spine and orthopaedic clinic.

This DISC Surgery Centre will be equipped with 11 patient beds, including five private pre-op rooms and six post-anaesthesia care unit (PACU) bays.

It will also have three operating suites integrated with imaging, microscopes, navigation, and robotic equipment.

The facility is expected to perform approximately 1,300 spine surgeries and 400 robotic total joint replacements each year.

It will also offer general orthopaedics and procedures for interventional pain management.

The ASC model is projected to save patients and commercial payers an estimated $60m annually compared to traditional inpatient surgical programmes.

The Tarzana centre is located to serve residents in Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Reseda, and Encino, and is accessible from the 101 freeway.

DISC currently operates ASCs in Valencia, Marina del Rey, Thousand Oaks, Newport Beach, and Carlsbad in Southern California.

In March 2024, TriasMD increased its US presence with the acquisition of Thousand Oaks Surgery Center in California.
