TriStar Health, part of HCA Healthcare’s Tennessee, US-based division, is set to apply for a certificate of need (CON) to construct a $250m acute care hospital in Spring Hill.

The application will be submitted to the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission.

According to TriStar Health’s LinkedIn post, the proposed hospital, if approved, will be situated at the current location of the TriStar Spring Hill ER.

The hospital will offer a wide range of services, including 68 beds, four operating rooms, and several specialised units such as an intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, and a labour and delivery unit.

Additionally, the facility plans to provide cardiac catheterisation and advanced imaging services, including MRI.

William County Source quoted HCA Healthcare TriStar Division president Mitch Edgeworth as saying: “We are proud to have served thousands of patients in Spring Hill and surrounding communities over the past ten years with convenient emergency care.

“As Spring Hill’s population continues to grow, it is time for the community to have access to essential healthcare services at a full-service hospital closer to where they live, work and play.”

The latest development comes as a response to the burgeoning healthcare demands of the rapidly expanding local population.

The Source noted that Spring Hill’s population, which was under 9,000 in 2000, has increased to more than 50,000 in 2020.

It cited the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury, which indicates the possibility of a further increase in local population to approximately 64,000 residents within the next five years.

In addition, establishing the TriStar Spring Hill Hospital is expected to significantly bolster the healthcare infrastructure for Spring Hill and its neighbouring areas.

The new hospital is expected to generate more than 3,000 job opportunities in the region, contributing to the local economy.
