US-based hospitals network UnityPoint Health has partnered with Premier, a healthcare improvement company, to optimise the management of its supply chain portfolio and support healthcare.

Under the multi-year partnership, UnityPoint Health will leverage Premier’s offerings such as supply chain services and group purchasing organisation (GPO), PINC AI technology platform and a team of experts to boost the execution of its supply chain.

Additionally, UnityPoint Health will incorporate Premier’s service line analytics that provides insights on pharmaceutical spend and clinical trends to minimise expensive drug utilisation and enhance outcomes.

UnityPoint Health Supply Management vice-president Mark Johnson said: “Today’s healthcare environment calls for a model that is focused on building healthier communities and better outcomes while maintaining highly effective and efficient operations.

“We believe that Premier has the expertise, insights and technology to help us enhance operational, quality improvement and cost savings opportunities across the system. We look forward to seeing what we can accomplish with Premier as our partner.”

Since 2015, UnityPoint Health has been utilising Premier’s clinical analytics.

As part of the latest agreement, Premier experts will also help UnityPoint Health streamline the insights and solutions obtained from Clinical and Margin PINC AI offerings of Premier.

PINC AI comprises Premier’s benchmarking, reporting, analytics, and clinical surveillance and decision support technologies.

The technology delivers actionable insights to enhance outcomes, support financial performance and facilitate success with new payment models.

Premier chief customer officer Andy Brailo said: “UnityPoint Health and Premier share a vision for value-based, cost-effective healthcare, and we are thrilled to welcome them to our membership.

“With the right strategic partner and technology-enabled insights, this vision is within reach. We’re looking forward to our collaboration with UnityPoint Health and the direct impact this partnership will have on their operations and continued ability to provide outstanding patient care.”

A network of hospitals, clinics and home care services, UnityPoint Health has more than 32,000 employees.
