Wyvern Private Hospital in Terrey Hills, Australia, has announced that the construction of its main structure has finished.

Northern Beaches Advocate reported that the hospital is currently undergoing the interior fit-out and installation of medical equipment, which will be its final phase of construction.

The A$98m ($63m) hospital is being developed by construction company Hacer with support from the Australian Unity Healthcare Property Trust.

Australian Unity healthcare property general manager Chris Smith said: “After a year of very strong construction progress from the builder, Hacer and the project team, it’s pleasing to see Wyvern Private Hospital enter the final phase of construction on schedule and on budget, placing us well on track to opening next year.

“Australian Unity is delighted to deliver this world-class facility with Wyvern Health that will meet the community’s changing health needs for decades to come.

“The hospital will enhance our NSW portfolio and deliver value to investors, who will benefit from the 30-year lease signed with Wyvern Health.”

Set to open in 2024, the hospital will provide medical and surgical services for patients in Sydney’s northern suburbs.

It will feature seven operating theatres, a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, 56 beds for surgical inpatients, 20 beds dedicated to rehabilitation and eight intensive care unit (ICU) beds.

The hospital will also include supplementary clinical support facilities such as radiology, pathology, hydrotherapy and pharmacy.

It will have a 148-space parking area and specialised consulting suites.

The property will be owned by Australian Unity and be operated by Wyvern Health under a long-term 30-year lease.

Once operational, it will be managed by Wyvern Health, which was founded by spinal surgeon Dr William Sears.

Dr Sears said: “We’re excited to be just one year away from opening our doors, joining Sydney’s healthcare ecosystem and delivering excellent healthcare to residents of the Northern Beaches and its surrounds.”
