Amicus Brain Innovations has launched an AI-based application, known as Amicus Insightful Navigation to Enrich Relationships, Amplify Connections, and Togetherness (INTERACT), to address dementia-related loneliness.

The app is developed to offer real-time guidance that facilitates meaningful conversations and aids in alleviating social isolation associated with memory impairment and communication difficulties.

Available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, it offers support and adapts to the evolving needs of older adults.

Amicus INTERACT offers a unified, user-friendly platform for initiating new conversations or replying to messages through WhatsApp, text, email, and other communication channels.

Amicus Brain Innovations AI researcher and CEO Dr Dorai said: “We created Amicus INTERACT to give a voice to those who need it most.

“By harnessing AI responsibly, we enable people with dementia to express themselves more clearly and engage more fully in their relationships, thus restoring independence in communications.”

Research indicates that older adults who experience social isolation have a 28% higher likelihood of developing dementia, while feelings of loneliness elevate the risk by 31%.

It is estimated that social isolation accounts for approximately 5% of all dementia cases globally.

Amicus INTERACT seeks to enhance confidence and clarity in communication, thereby aiding in the preservation of independence, strengthening of social ties, and the mitigation of loneliness, which can expedite cognitive decline.

The application is presently available for download, offering a free trial.

As dementia advances, the ability to communicate may become more challenging, resulting in feelings of isolation for both the affected individuals and their family members.
