Bon Secours Mercy Health, Compass Surgical Partners and local physicians are set to open a new ambulatory surgery centre (ASC), in South Carolina, US.
The Millennium Surgery Center is situated at 214 Innovation Drive in Greenville.
It will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on 11 April and is expected to start taking the initial cases by the end of this month.
The 20,000ft² ASC will provide a range of pain management procedures, otolaryngology interventions, and same-day orthopaedic surgeries.
This will provide patients in the region with access to enhanced care without the need for hospital stays.
The facility will help restore patient mobility through various orthopaedic procedures, including total joint replacement, treatment for fractures, sports medicine, as well as interventions for the spine, hands, elbows, feet, and ankles.
Additionally, the Millennium Surgery Center will be equipped with new technologies, including Stryker's Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted System, to enhance surgical precision, particularly during total knee and hip replacements.
In addition to orthopaedic services, the centre will offer an array of neck, head, and otolaryngology procedures.
Following the opening, Millennium Surgery Center will focus on securing accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and Medicare certification by mid-May.
Bon Secours St Francis Health System market president Matt Caldwell said: “Millennium Surgery Center will be the first ASC to offer outpatient joint replacements in the Upstate region of South Carolina, allowing it to provide cutting-edge care at a reduced overall cost and with lower copays than hospital care.”
The opening of Millennium Surgery Center marks the fourth facility developed through the strategic partnership between Bon Secours Mercy Health and Compass.
Following the success of their first joint venture, the Springfield Regional Outpatient Surgery Center in Springfield, Ohio, the partners are committed to expanding their network by opening more ASCs this year and in the future.
Through this effort, the companies aim to make care more accessible and tailored to the needs of patients and physicians.
