CHI Memorial Hospital, based in the US, has initiated the construction of a new healthcare facility in Ringgold, Catoosa County, Georgia.

The beginning of the new hospital construction was marked by a ground breaking ceremony.

The upcoming hospital is expected to feature 64 in-patient beds, an intensive care unit (ICU), and a fully equipped 24-bed emergency department, as well as multiple operating rooms.

This development marks a significant upgrade from the existing CHI Memorial Hospital in Georgia, which currently has 35 inpatient beds.

According to Chattanoogan.com, CHI Memorial Hospital Strategy and Business Development senior vice-president Andrew McGill said that the announced project is scheduled for completion by December 2025.

McGill also mentioned the financial boost the hospital is receiving from a special $1.5m federal appropriation, which was arranged by Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff.

McGill added: “CHI Memorial has been committed to this community for nearly 25 years. Bringing more services to a convenient, patient-friendly campus that is close to a major interstate and in the epicenter of local commercial and residential growth will provide greater access to comprehensive healthcare.”

Once open, the hospital, located at 4700 Battlefield Parkway in Ringgold, will also be connected to the Skillern Cancer Center at the Glenwood campus, providing integrated care for cancer patients.

Officials further emphasised the importance of this expansion, noting that it will be beneficial for patients who have to travel long distances for treatment.

Chattanoogan quoted CHI Memorial Hospital market CEO Janelle Reilly as saying: “About one fourth of the people we care for live in North Georgia. The new hospital will provide expanded access and more vital services closer to home for the residents of North Georgia.”
