US-based healthcare services providers Encompass Health and Piedmont Healthcare are set to establish a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Loganville, Georgia, US.

The two organisations have received the ‘certificate of need’ for the construction of the new hospital at 3195 Loganville Highway. 

This new facility will comprise private patient rooms, a large therapy gym equipped with the latest rehabilitation technologies, an 'activities of daily living' suite, a therapy courtyard, a cafeteria, and a pharmacy. 

It will treat individuals recuperating from serious illnesses and injuries, such as neurological disorders, strokes, brain and spinal cord injuries, complex orthopaedic cases, and amputations.  

Piedmont plans to transfer its current 20-bed rehabilitation unit from the Piedmont Eastside Medical Center to the new facility once it is operational. 

Upon opening, the new hospital will complement existing local acute care services by providing intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapies, combined with round-the-clock nursing care.

Based in Alabama, Encompass Health is a provider of post-acute healthcare services, with a portfolio of 160 hospitals located across 37 US states and Puerto Rico. 

Piedmont is a Georgia-based not-for-profit organisation, which operates a network of 23 hospitals, 65 urgent care centres, and 25 QuickCare locations, with nearly 3,100 clinic members and 1,875 clinic physician practices.  

In September 2023, Piedmont and Encompass Health launched a 40-bed rehabilitation hospital in Columbus, Georgia.
