Nonprofit healthcare organisation Intermountain Health has entered an agreement to acquire the US-based outpatient radiology company, Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging (SDMI), which has 12 locations throughout the Las Vegas Valley.
This initiative aims to enhance access to coordinated and affordable imaging services in southern Nevada.
SDMI functions as a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence and has several accreditations, including those from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and the American College of Radiology.
SDMI-affiliated radiologists are accredited by the American Board of Radiology and include specialists in areas such as women's imaging, paediatric, musculoskeletal and interventional radiology.
The organisation’s team comprises over 550 radiologists, staff, and technologists, trained in more than 2,000 clinical procedures. The services encompass from screening mammograms to port placements for chemotherapy.
Intermountain Health chief clinical shared services officer Eric Liston said: “This decision to bring SDMI to Intermountain aligns with our proactive care model in that it will allow us to provide more coordinated and integrated imaging services for patients.
“As the number of people with chronic and complex health conditions continues to grow, ease of access to high-quality imaging services is more important than ever.”
SDMI founding partner and president Mark Winkler said: “We’re excited to join Intermountain Health to share our expertise as a leader not only in imaging, but in integrity, service, and vision.
“We are focused on delivering exceptional patient experience and accurate results through compassion and cutting-edge technology. Intermountain’s mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible aligns with our dedication to the people of our Las Vegas community.”
Patients will continue to receive care from SDMI and Intermountain, with the transition scheduled to commence after 1 January 2026, and will proceed in phases.
In addition, Intermountain plans to break ground on a paediatric healthcare facility with 200 beds next year in Nevada.
