InterSystems has introduced HealthShare AI Assistant, a generative AI (genAI) solution to help administrators, clinicians and case managers access and interpret patient information quickly.
The new capability builds on the HealthShare unified care record (UCR) foundation and enables staff to query, summarise and navigate patient records using natural language prompts.
The AI Assistant accesses data from several clinical sources and applies genAI to highlight relevant insights.
It presents information via standard displays, aiming to facilitate faster access to comprehensive patient insights and data.
Core features include a conversational chat interface for clinical questions and summary requests, delivering instant context-aware insights; pre-built and custom prompts for role-based configurations; and source traceability that links each AI-generated response to its original record, fostering transparency.
Integrated within the HealthShare Clinical Viewer and Navigation Application, the assistant streamlines workflow.
It also incorporates comprehensive governance, offering audit tracking, configurable data profiles, responsible AI usage, and role-based access controls.

Pilot programmes have shown measurable improvements in satisfaction and efficiency.
A study with US health information exchange Healthix demonstrated improved workflow and faster record review for clinicians.
The new AI Assistant is immediately available to supported HealthShare regions.
In October 2025, InterSystems partnered with Google Cloud to integrate InterSystems HealthShare with Google Cloud’s Healthcare API, delivering a harmonised, scalable, real-time data foundation to support generative and agentic AI applications.
