Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, US, has expanded its collaboration with West Tennessee Healthcare to provide care for Jackson-Madison County General Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), from December 2025.

Jackson-Madison County General Hospital is an affiliate within West Tennessee Healthcare.

The initiative aims to extend Le Bonheur’s specialised paediatric NICU care to families throughout the region.

Providers at Le Bonheur, including ophthalmologists, cardiologists, neurologists, nurse practitioners, neonatologists, and other paediatric specialists, will staff the hospital's Level III NICU with 42 beds.

Le Bonheur stated that this transition will ensure that vulnerable newborns in the region receive the specialised care they require.

Current Jackson-Madison County General Hospital nurse practitioners and neonatologists will become Le Bonheur providers as part of the transition.

Le Bonheur specialists will support care within the NICU and provide advanced services, including coordination for higher-level care at Le Bonheur’s Level IV NICU in Memphis when required.

NICU support staff and nurses will remain as West Tennessee Healthcare employees, continuing their roles supporting families in the area.

Le Bonheur president Dr Trey Eubanks said. “This expansion reflects our shared mission with West Tennessee Healthcare to bring specialised care to children and families in this region.

“By bringing Le Bonheur’s expertise directly into the NICU, we’re helping ensure that babies born in West Tennessee have the best possible start in life.”

Dr Josefina Go, a current Jackson-Madison County General Hospital team member, will act as the NICU medical director.

This development enhances Le Bonheur's presence in Jackson and West Tennessee, which already features a 21-bed inpatient unit that was inaugurated in 2022 within the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
