Memorial Hermann Health System has announced plans for a $282.5m expansion of Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital in Texas, US, with construction set to begin in late 2026.
The expansion aims to address the region’s population growth and increasing care demands.
The project’s centrepiece is an eight-storey patient tower, which will feature a rooftop helipad, advanced imaging, and new inpatient beds.
Additional works include expanding the paediatric emergency centre, surgical, children’s and women’s services, as well as the pharmacy, laboratory, and support functions such as cafeteria and kitchen.
Memorial Hermann Katy and Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospitals CEO and senior vice-president Jerry Ashworth said: “We are proud to announce Memorial Hermann Katy’s third major expansion in recent years.
“We are making this strategic investment in response to the phenomenal growth of the greater Katy community along with our ongoing commitment to create personalised and compassionate experiences for our patients.”
The hospital’s current expansion, which broke ground in April 2023, is nearing completion and includes an extra 100 beds, a third office building housing an expanded emergency centre, a new parking garage and TIRR Memorial Hermann Pediatric Outpatient Rehabilitation-Katy.
This follows an earlier expansion in 2016, which added the East Tower and a second office building.
Memorial Hermann Katy continues to strengthen its capabilities by seeking Level II Trauma designation, enabling the treatment of higher acuity trauma patients.
The hospital has served the Katy region for more than 40 years and provides advanced technology, clinical expertise, and patient-centred care.
