Netsmart has launched AlphaCoding, an AI-powered clinical coding tool designed to improve compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across healthcare settings.
Guided by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) standards, AlphaCoding is claimed to provide evidence-based, near real-time coding recommendations to support healthcare professionals.
AlphaCoding is designed to help healthcare organisations make accurate and informed coding decisions by providing easy access to relevant information.
Integrated within the solution, Benny operates as an AI coding assistant, delivering suggestions to minimise the manual effort involved in medical coding.
Benny's features encompass clinical concept recognition, code assignment, record extraction, updates to electronic health records (EHR), and coder verification.
Core features of AlphaCoding and Benny include ICD-10 Suggest, which swiftly analyses clinical documentation to propose procedure codes and accurate diagnoses; Computer-Assisted Coding, which automates code suggestions through comprehensive clinical reviews; Quality Reporting to ensure that coding aligns with CMS quality metrics; and Productivity Enhancement, which optimises workflows to minimise documentation time.
The tool reviews clinical records, often exceeding 50 pages daily, identifying key patient details and provides source citations and clear explanations to empower coders.
Initially focused on ICD-10 coding, AlphaCoding will expand into palliative and behavioural health inpatient coding, with plans to support CPT and HCPCS coding across additional service lines.
