New hospital launches on CHC Bhangel campus in Noida, India

The facility will expand maternal and childcare services and other outpatient departments (OPDs).

November 03 2023

A 50-bed hospital located at the community healthcare centre (CHC) Bhangel campus in Noida has been opened for patients in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, reported The Times of India.

It has remained unused since its construction in 2018.

Officially inaugurated by the GB Nagar district chief medical officer Dr. Sunil Sharma, the facility will expand maternal and childcare services and other outpatient departments (OPDs).

The hospital had fallen into disrepair during its unused period, requiring over Rs50,000 ($600.58) for maintenance.

The CHC Bhangel has seen more than 1,000 patients up to September 2023, with a daily influx of 700 to 800 OPD patients.

The facility faced challenges to accommodate these patients, especially during emergencies, and has requested more doctors and medical staff.

It needs more medical staff, particularly gynaecologists, as over 250 deliveries occur each month.

The hospital had served as a Covid-19 facility in 2022 but was closed after no Covid-19 patients were admitted.

According to the publication, a doctor said: “We only have one gynaecologist at the moment and, with so many patients coming in for deliveries, the doctors have to be called back at night for emergency situations.

“Since the area has a lot of daily wagers and people who travel for work, they come to us for deliveries of their children and most do not have their medical history with them.

“In such cases, more doctors would help us manage the situation better.”
