Royal Surrey and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals group have been named as the preferred partners for a potential partnership opportunity with Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (QVH), based in East Grinstead, UK.

QVH is recognised for its expertise in sleep medicine and reconstruction, and also delivers essential healthcare services to the local community.

It currently employs over 1,000 staff and is known for its quality of care, clinical standards, and patient results.

Over recent months, the trust has been reviewing partnership opportunities to underpin the long-term sustainability along with resilience of its services and has invited expressions of interest from healthcare organisations throughout Sussex and Surrey.

After a detailed appraisal process that included input from staff, clinicians, stakeholders, and patients, the QVH Board approved a proposal to move forward with a partnership with Royal Surrey and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals.

This approval took place at the trust’s public board meeting on 16 December.

Next steps for the partnership include further discussions at the board meetings of both Royal Surrey and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals in the coming year, followed by a period of joint planning with QVH.

In May 2024, Morgan Sindall Construction, a British company, was awarded contracts totalling £60m ($76m) for new-build and refurbishment projects at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust sites.

The contracts form part of the ProCure23 (P23) framework, which is being delivered by NHS England in collaboration with the UK Government’s Crown Commercial Service (CCS).

The framework, now in its fourth generation, is part of the CCS Construction Works and Associated Services 2 (CWAS2) procurement framework.
