St Hilliers Townsville has secured a contract from the Queensland Government in Australia for the A$40m ($26.4m) Kirwan Health Campus expansion project.

The expanded facility will enhance access to community health care in Townsville.

As part of the contract, the company will construct a new two-storey building to provide oral health, pre-natal, and post-natal care services.

The facility will also house additional centres for outpatient treatment.

Queensland Health Minister Shannon Fentiman said: “The campus expansion will ensure we can meet the current and future demands of this growing community.

“These projects will help ease the pressure on local hospitals, allowing residents to access high-quality care, without having to travel too far from home.”

St Hilliers has started mobilising the workforce for the project, as well as conducting planning and design meetings.

The design, construction, build, and fit-out of the upgraded campus will feature measures to minimise the environmental impact of the building.

St Hilliers plans to complete construction of the new building and renovation works of the existing building in the second half of next year.

Queensland Premier and Olympic and Paralympic Games Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said: “This Kirwan Health Campus is just of the many investments we’re making into the health of the people of Townsville.

“Our recently announced budget includes A$1.3bn for the Townsville Hospital and Health service, made possible by our progressive coal royalties.”

This month, the Queensland Government awarded more than A$1.5bn ($1bn) in tenders to expand The Prince Charles Hospital and Redcliffe Hospital.
