Teladoc launches AI workplace safety solution for hospitals

The solution supports a variety of applications, including workplace safety interventions and virtual sitting.

Teladoc has introduced a workplace safety feature within its AI-driven Clarity monitoring solution, designed to assist health systems and hospitals in tackling violence in the workplace.

This comprehensive solution comprises hardware, software, and services that enable care teams to monitor resources and care environments.

It supports a variety of applications, including workplace safety interventions and virtual sitting.

The company stated that workplace violence poses an increasingly significant challenge for hospitals. Over 80% of nurses have reported having experienced incidents of violence at work, with almost half indicating a rise in such occurrences in recent years.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics data, healthcare workers are five times more likely to encounter violence in the workplace compared to those in other sectors. Teladoc’s latest feature utilises audio and visual cues to identify aggressive language, analyse facial expressions, and recognise threatening gestures.

As an incident unfolds, the solution promptly alerts staff and care teams, facilitating early intervention. It detects particular safety risks such as an individual invading a nurse’s personal space or interfering with medical equipment.

Teladoc hospital and health systems president Andy Puterbaugh said: "Healthcare workplace violence is a persistent and growing threat impacting care team safety, patient well-being, and health system operations.

"While traditional tools are often reactive - relying on human vigilance or panic buttons - our new workforce safety capability is purpose-built to transform insights into action, using AI to empower early intervention and improve the safety of everyone in the care setting."

As part of Teladoc's partner development programme, the solution will be launched in collaboration with selected health systems and hospitals during the first quarter (Q1) of 2026.
