Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and USF Health have become part of the CareSource Military and Veterans (CSMV) network, extending TRICARE Prime Demo Tampa healthcare services to the military community in the US.

This partnership aims to provide eligible beneficiaries in Florida's Tampa region, including military retirees and their families, survivors, and active-duty family members, access to extensive healthcare coverage under the TRICARE Prime Demo by CSMV.

Through this collaboration, TRICARE Prime Demo by CSMV beneficiaries in Tampa can receive the same level of comprehensive coverage as the existing TRICARE plan.

CSMV stated that additional benefits listed include no enrolment fees for the first year, no referrals required for network providers, and access to a CareSource nurse advice line.

The partnership ensures TRICARE Prime Demo patients have access to a wide range of clinical services, including neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology, dermatology, behavioural health, and urology, provided by specialists at the University of South Florida and TGH.

Existing TRICARE patients who opt for the demo will continue to receive care from their current providers, while new patients can benefit from these expanded services.

TGH operates a Military and Veteran Primary Care Center, focusing on healthcare tailored to the unique needs of the military and veteran population.

USF Health supports the military community through its Office of Military Medical Innovation & Research, which utilises research and multidisciplinary clinical expertise to drive advancements in medical care for service members and their families.

Tampa General Medical Group's medical director primary care Yamil Miranda-Usúa said: “The Military and Veterans Primary Care Center at Tampa General Hospital exists to give veterans and military families the coordinated and dependable care they should be able to count on every day.

“Our partnership with CareSource helps us carry that mission further and strengthens access, improves continuity and supports the level of attention this community has earned through service and sacrifice. We're grateful to move this forward together.”

Earlier this year, TGH, Lifepoint Health and the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine announced the opening of the TGH Behavioral Health Hospital in Florida.
