Wolters Kluwer Health has introduced the next generation of Lippincott DocuCare, an academic electronic health record (EHR) platform designed to support nursing students as they transition into professional practice.

This nursing EHR simulation training solution provides a realistic experience.

DocuCare is fully integrated within the Lippincott learning suite, which combines clinical learning with classroom instruction, helping students to apply their knowledge across the curriculum.

Wolters Kluwer Health Learning & Practice vice-president Julie Stegman said: “The transition from education to patient care continues to be a big hurdle for new nurses entering the workforce and the health systems that hire them.

“Having clinical-like application tools available to nursing students will help build their clinical judgment and reflect a more true-to-practice experience that can minimise these growing pains.

“The essential goal of documentation is safe, effective patient care delivery and clinician-patient communication. Students that use DocuCare gain exposure to these skills during their education, making them more practice-ready and more attractive to employers, while supporting curriculum needs.”

In accordance with the standards set by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), DocuCare facilitates competency-based education and accreditation, ensuring that nursing graduates are equipped to meet industry demands.

It works with Lippincott products, providing a cohesive gradebook, course management, and thorough curriculum alignment.

This offers educators 400 customisable patient records, which enhance team teaching and ensure comprehensive curriculum coverage across courses, simulations, and clinical placements.

Wolters Kluwer noted that DocuCare procedural information and medication updates are regularly revised and confirmed by medical regulatory authorities. This guarantees that students are equipped to make informed clinical decisions in their practice.

Last month, Wolters Kluwer Health expanded the availability of its UpToDate Enterprise Edition to healthcare systems and hospitals in the Asia-Pacific region.
