Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and Mass General Brigham (MGB) have announced their first joint venture to launch a 10,000ft² radiation oncology centre in Palm Beach County, Florida, US.
The co-branded and jointly owned centre will enhance access to medical care and offer advanced technology and coordinated patient experiences. It is scheduled to begin serving patients in early 2026.
Expected to bring cancer care to residents of Florida’s East Coast and beyond, the partnership uses the clinical expertise and medical innovation of both TGH and MGB.
Tampa General president and CEO John Couris said: “This new centre represents a significant evolution in the partnership between TGH and MGB, as we continue to execute our overall strategy to transform healthcare through innovation and collaboration with the nation’s leading providers and physician-scientists.
“By joining forces once again, TGH and MGB will ensure that residents on the East Coast of Florida and beyond have access to world-class cancer care from two of the nation’s preeminent academic health systems.”
TGH will be responsible for the daily operations of the centre while MGB’s radiation oncology department will oversee quality and safety.
The collaboration will embody the principles of academic medicine, creating an integrated team of experts, ranging from physicians and dosimetrists to patient advocates and administrators.
MGB chief operating officer Ron Walls said: “As cancer rates continue to rise across the country at an alarming rate, so too has our ability to diagnose, treat, and improve outcomes across many different levels of disease.
“We are so pleased to further our partnership with Tampa General Hospital, and this new centre represents our shared goal to eradicate cancer in the most meaningful and innovative ways possible.”
Earlier this month, THG launched the dedicated Military & Veteran Primary Care Center (MVP) to offer a range of services encompassing behavioural health, primary care, laboratory and pharmacy services.
