Lifepoint Health’s division Lifepoint Rehabilitation has acquired an inpatient rehabilitation facility in San Antonio, Texas, from US-based multispecialty rehabilitation hospital chain Everest Rehabilitation Hospitals.

Financial specifics regarding the transaction were not made public.

The acquired facility has 36 private suites and offers a range of rehabilitation services for patients recovering from various serious conditions such as spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, strokes, orthopaedic injuries, trauma, amputations, and other neurological conditions.

It also features therapy gyms, custom-designed courtyards, as well as dining spaces.

Lifepoint Rehabilitation's portfolio currently includes more than 40 inpatient rehabilitation sites and over 250 hospital-based rehabilitation units, as well as medical/surgical and outpatient therapy facilities across the US.

Everest Rehabilitation Hospitals CEO Jay Quintana said: “We know that Lifepoint shares our patient-centred vision for rehabilitation care and that their attention to continued investment in people and technology will promote excellent outcomes for patients in and beyond San Antonio.”

The latest acquisition marks the third collaboration between Lifepoint Health and Everest Rehabilitation Hospitals.

In August 2023, Lifepoint Health acquired Everest’s inpatient rehabilitation facility in El Paso, Texas, which also offers comprehensive rehabilitation services to patients with similar conditions as the San Antonio facility.

Before this deal, Lifepoint Health purchased four inpatient rehabilitation facilities across the US from Everest in February 2023.

These facilities are in Longview and Temple in Texas; Rogers in Arkansas; and Cincinnati in Ohio.

Each of the sites features 36 private rooms and employs nearly 500 staff members, providing extensive rehabilitation services and care support.

Lifepoint Rehabilitation president Russ Bailey said: “We have an exciting vision to further build and strengthen our rehabilitation capabilities through technology, quality programmes, services, support teams and more, and we will serve the community of San Antonio with the evidence-driven, high-quality care Lifepoint Rehabilitation is known for.”

In a bid to continue the expansion of its rehabilitation facilities, Lifepoint Rehabilitation recently collaborated with UW Health and UnityPoint Health–Meriter to build a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital in the US’ greater Madison area.
