New Centricity™ Clinical Applications at MEDICA 2008

GE Healthcare IT launches the Centricity Critical Care clinical information system version 7.0 at this year’s MEDICA. This release brings more than 100 of the latest features to new and existing customers, in addition to many enhancements that complement its current capabilities.

The totally re-designed CarePlus™ flowsheet allows access to all the relevant information with less mouse clicks thus saving time, costs and personnel resources. It is interactive, easy to read, fully configurable and guarantees an improved user experience.

“We have been organizing a series of user groups and medical advisory board meetings during the past year,” said Jürgen Reyinger, general manager at GE Healthcare IT. “Only by closely listening to our customers [did] we manage to achieve this significant added value, which comes with Centricity Critical Care 7.0. For example, based on the feedback from our customers, we are offering direct input of orders and fully adjustable timescales. And in particular for the German market, we have introduced the integration to KODIP® lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP), XML-messenger and much more. These were all features requested by our users who felt they were essential for a better outcome in patient care,” Reyinger emphasized.

For higher diagnostic and drug safety, drugs can be ordered directly from CarePlus, thus reducing the likelihood of human errors. Advanced performance measurements allow an easy definition of all major standard scoring systems, help to optimize the workflow and to better evaluate the workload. The costs and the department’s performance are always under control with the new advanced reporting and statistic functionalities. In addition, the solution enables full integration to a large family of medical devices, hospital information systems (HIS) and electronic medical records (EMRs), via Infoway®, active directory, single sign-on (SSO), and exchange of reference data.

Besides the modern solution for critical care and intensive medicine specialists, GE Healthcare IT is also presenting new features in Centricity Anesthesia. The version 2.1 brings the solution for anesthetists to the next level of clinical functionalities and performances.
